ROAD TO HIRE APPRENTICESHIPS FAQs

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY + TIMELINE

  • Applicants must meet the following requirements be eligible for the Road to Hire Apprenticeship programs:

    • Identify as a person of color

    • High school graduate or GED

    • Live in the Charlotte area

    • Must be between the ages of 19 and 26

    • Must have the authorization to work in the U.S.

    Specific apprenticeship tech tracks may have additional requirements, so check the application if you’re interested in an apprenticeship.

  • Because the Road to Hire Apprenticeship programs require apprentices to be in office 3 out of 5 days a week, participants must live in the Charlotte metropolitan area.

  • Beginning September 6, 2022, new apprentices will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination as a condition for employment. Apprentices who have sought medical or religious exemptions should now rejoin the in-office.

  • There is no specific GPA requirement. Road to Hire looks for candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic.

  • Yes. Road to Hire is looking for motivated young adults in the Charlotte area between the ages of 19 and 26. (You must turn 19 before and still be 26 when you graduate from the program.)

  • Because Road to Hire’s mission is to create employment opportunities, work authorization is a program requirement. You must be authorized to work without sponsorship or restrictions for any employer in the U.S.

  • The most successful candidates are self-starters who can operate independently yet aren’t afraid to ask questions.

  • No. Road to Hire is looking for young adults who are passionate about technology and who love solving problems. Road to Hire will teach you the rest!

  • The Road to Hire Apprenticeship programs is a hybrid, three days in-office and two days remote, six-month programs from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. In addition to classroom lectures, participants will watch weekly videos, attend breakout sessions and complete challenging assignments. Participants may be assigned work outside of the program’s 35-40 hours/week to tackle additional projects and challenges.

    Road to Hire has high standards of performance and accountability for all participants: this program has been intentionally crafted to set you up for success. Your consistent attendance is required to ensure you have the best possible learning experience.

ROAD TO HIRE PROGRAM BENEFITS

  • Road to Hire does not pay for housing. Road to Hire participants will receive a weekly stipend during the six-month training, followed by full-time pay and benefits (including health insurance) after graduation (pending job placement).

  • Road to Hire aims to place every successful Road to Hire apprentice in high-earning tech careers. Every apprentice will have an interview with at least one employer partner. Historically, over 90% of Road to Hire apprentices are placed in their desired field with an employer partner.

  • No. Although Road to Hire believes competition is healthy, the goal is to place all Road to Hire apprentices in full-time jobs in the Charlotte area once they complete the program.

  • No. Road to Hire covers all training costs.

  • Yes. The R2H Apprenticeships program is a six-month, full-time ($525/week) paid position.
